LIFE BOAT COXSWAIN (Course No SS-36-B)

 

 
Target Audience        :        Personnel detailed as a coxswain in vessels/barges or   installations, which provide TEMPSC as abandonment
                                                           method
Location                     :        This course can be delivered at Clients premises or ETSDC premises where we  have a purpose built
                                                           lifeboat station with access to the open sea.

Objectives                  :       

 

·        Take charge of an assigned TEMPSC on an installation/vessel or barge or similar under authority of
  persons in charge.

·        Take charge of and carry out all procedures relating to boarding, launching, movement to safe area
  and transfer of personnel to safety.  Operate equipment in the craft (including communication
  equipment).

·        Take command of survival craft at sea under varying sea states and conditions.

·        Take charge of all operations which relate to survival craft in connection with sea survival recovery
  of man overboard.

·        Show basic awareness of good seamanship & be competent in selecting a course and steering by
  compass.

·        Fully conversant with the limitations of particular type of craft used for training in respect of its
  inherent buoyancy, engine power available, maximum recommended speeds under varying sea states
 and manoeuvrability criteria.

·        Carry out procedures for safe recovery of survival craft during offshore exercises.
